Total Loss of Social Security Disability Benefits

Hi, my name is Kenny Burgess. I graduated from VMI (The Virginia Military Institute) in 1983, and I need your help please. On December 23, 1999, I had a stroke in my brainstem (Cerebral Vascular Accident), that left me blind in one eye, and I could not walk nor talk and lost two good careers at the time because of it.

I suffer from Bi-polar disorder and PTSD. Fortunately, I regained my sight, speech and now walk with a bad limp but have cognitive issues.

I have legally been receiving SSDI, Social Security Disability Insurance for the last 23 years. Just this past week I received two letters and a call from the Social Security Disability Office that they were terminating me 100% from my benefits.

They encourage you to go out and help yourself if you can with a part time job and I had worked part time for the past 20 years. They are now claiming that I made $178.00 over the allowed limit in the year 2019 and they stopped all my income as of this month -- 100% cut off. They also cut off all of my medical coverage as it was directly related to my SSDI.

I have regular visits to my doctor for my cognitive issues and my limp. I also take medications for my bi-polar issue along with other daily, mandatory medications (eight of them). None of this is covered now along with my normal bills like Dominion Energy (power bill), Mortgage, Food and normal everyday expenses.

I have filed an appeal, but this is going to take six months to a year to resolve according to my attorney.
