As a result of a weaponized mass starvation during the Tigray genocidal war in the past three years, a vast majority of our people have faced famine and hence at this very moment we are losing countless lives. Regardless of humanitarian/aid organizations, UN agencies and think tanks early warnings on the coming of this man-made starvation, the international community have fallen short of to neither make a pledge to alleviate the famine nor a rapid response to mitigate the loss.

On "Starving Tigray" foreword by the former UNDP Administrator, Helen Clark, she noted that "At every stage in the war in Tigray thus far, worst-case assumptions have been proven the most reliable. What we do not yet know has consistently turned out to be more dreadful than what we can document reliably. We have reason to fear that this may be the case for the crisis of forced mass starvation."

In July 22, 2021 Action Against Hunger, a nonprofit leader in hunger prevention and treatment warned that the humanitarian crisis if continued would result deadly consequences – if action were not taken back then. It reported that, nearly 4.4 million people in the region – roughly 3 in every 4 people – are expected to face serious acute food insecurity.

Several humanitarian and aid agencies have warned the risk of famine, efforts were not able to bear fruit and hence unfortunately, we are loosing unmeasurable number of souls today. In light of this fact, this Go Fund me is a call by the Tigray Orthodox Tewahedo Church (TOTC), See of Selama to all its members both locally and globally and the friends of Tigray to join hands together in response to save the lives of millions at the verge of death.
