Tough like Tay

For those of you that know Taylor Hilton, you know her as our outgoing and energetic girl. She is a loving wife to Joe and mom of three to Piper (age 5), JoeJoe (age 3), and baby Jack (age 5 months). She does all of this while braving the streets of the 025th district as a Chicago police officer, as well as an Edison Park resident and St. Juliana's parishioner.
Well shortly after the birth of Jack, at the beginning of February 2024, our tough girl got news no one should ever receive. A tumor in her breast that had metastasized into cancer, that even a family history couldn’t brace us for. After many tests, scans and biopsies, she received even more bad news that it had spread to her pelvic bone, spine, lymph nodes and liver, with her official diagnosis being Stage 4 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. This is a Her2 Metastatic diagnosis with an aggressive treatment plan.
All of this couldn’t dim Taylor’s light. She is ready to face this horrible disease head on and fight for herself and her family. There is a long road ahead for her and we will be there with her every step of the way. If the past month has shown anything, it’s that we should all strive to be #ToughlikeTay.
The outpouring of support has been profound. But please keep in mind that this situation is still very new to the family and they are working on digesting this new normal.
Please pray that this journey is quick for Tay and that she can get back to enjoying her life with her family.
