Tour de Lime 2024

Lime Academy Orton is a school for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Our school serves the warm and welcoming community of Peterborough and it's surrounding villages.

At Lime Academy Orton we offer enrichment activities across the school year. We want our learners to have a range of experiences that celebrates the wonderful diversity of our school community. These experiences are carefully planned to allow all learners the opportunity to generalise their skills in different settings during national and religious events.

Sports Week 2024

This year we are celebrating our very own Sports Week from Tuesday 7th to Friday 10th May. It is going to be a week focusing on promoting sport, health and wellbeing through a range of exciting activities.

Tour de Lime 2024

As part of the week, our school staff will be taking part in a sponsored cycling event throughout the week. We have 2 campus' and we will both be attempting to cycle 207 miles for a total of 414 miles!

Why 207 miles? This is the distance covered if you were to cycle around all of the schools in Lime Trust and get back to where we started. We have 8 schools in our trust, based in both Peterborough and London. Every morning, lunch time and after school our staff will join in the cycle challenge on exercise bikes in our school atriums as we climb up to our target of 414 miles.

As it is Sports Week we will also have a bit of competition to see which campus can complete the most distance!

Any money raised during this challenge will go towards physiotherapy and sports equipment in our school. All of our learners have an Education Health Care Plan and supporting them to be comfortable, happy and healthy is a priority in our school. We do a range of activities and lessons linked to support their Sensory and Physical skills which include: hydrotherapy (we have our own pool!), developmental movement and movement play, massage stories, PE, community walks, therapeutic trampolining, yoga and discrete physiotherapy sessions tailored to meet specific needs.
