Tower Collapse- Gonzalez Family Trust

On Thursday June 24th at around 1:30AM, Angela Gonzalez and her daughter, 16-year-old Deven, were in their apartment on the 9th floor of the Champlain Towers-South building in the city of Surfside, Florida when the residential building partially collapsed. Mother and daughter fell from the 9th floor to the 5th floor where Angela sustained severe injuries. Despite these injuries, she was still able to pull Deven from the rubble and the two were among the first people rescued from the rubble. Unfortunately, Angela’s husband and Deven's father, Edgar Gonzalez, remains among the missing.

The Gonzalezes are truly a wonderfully close-knit family. Edgar, a graduate of both Christopher Columbus High School (’94) and Florida State University (00), had recently restarted his career just two years ago as an attorney and had been working countless hours to make up for lost time and provide security for his family. Edgar is the kindest, most loyal friend anyone could ever ask for and also the most dedicated father and husband. At this point we hope for the best but must plan for the worst.

Since Edgar was the primary financial provider for the family, and Angela has a long, difficult road to recovery ahead of her, several of Edgar’s Christopher Columbus High School (Miami Florida) friends are setting up a Trust to benefit Angela, Deven, and Edgar’s step-daughter Tayler Scheinhaus.
