Toy Drive for New York City's Homeless Children
Donation protected
Happy Holidays to all of my friends and family. For years, my sister has participated in #Givingtuesday to raise money for Dayton Children's Hospital and its about time I got in the action here in New York City.
Most of us are blessed to have the means to provide toys (and in some cases lots of toys!) during the holidays for the children in our lives that bring joy to us every day. Sons, daughters, nieces, nephews and even children we are not related to. For many families, this is not reality.
I know everyone has memories of receiving their first Ghostbuster or Lego set or doll house and being ecstatic on Christmas morning and other holidays. No child should be deprived of a gift or toy that will spark their imagination, teach them to read, write and count or simply provide comfort during hard times. And parents should not have to forgo providing basic children's toys to their child due to rising costs, lack of income or changes in their living situation.
New York Coalition for the Homeless is hosting their annual toy drive and we're trying to raise $2000 to buy new toys for kids this holiday season. For every dollar donated to the fund, I will MATCH dollar for dollar up to $1000. $1000 from you, $1000 from me. If you are willing to cover the transaction fees, that is appreciated, but I will cover any that are leftover.
As soon as we reach our $2000 goal, I will place the order, but no later than December 4th due to supply chain issues. The deadline to order gifts is December 12th, but I would rather not chance it. Anything over and above the goal will be sent as a monetary donation to the coalition.
