Richard Lee Smith, 44, passed away at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria IL, surrounded by family on November 17th, 2021.
Richard is survived by his children, Sabrina Smith (Justin Beavers), Anthony Smith, Grace & Zoey Lala; his fiancé Amanda Lane; his three grandchildren Casen, Tatum and Tripp Beavers with his fourth grandson due in January; his mother Judy Smith; his father Richard (Jeri) Smith; his brother Jacob (Jami) Smith and his two sisters Dawn Smith (Denis Whitmire) and Courtney Smith. Richard is preceded in death by his grandmother Pat Manning; grandparents Jewel and August Maria; and his uncle Lance Smith
Devoted to those he loves most, Richard was especially fond of his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He held great pride for the strong family he was blessed to be a hand in creating and developed many titles throughout his life! Dad, Uncle Rich and his most favorite, paw-paw. Richard worked as a tow truck operator for many years, one of the best! He was talented in many things such as welding and he was quite the mechanic. Corn fed and raised in DeLand; Richard loved buying, selling and most of all, racing cars. Most remember his white, 1989 trans-am. The simplest pleasures brought him great joy; when he wasn’t tinkering with a car (that he most likely broke) he was with his friends and family. Richard will be missed dearly by
so many who had the pleasure of knowing him. If you didn’t know him, you missed out!
A Celebration Of Life will be held on Thursday, December 2nd at 2pm. Please join us at the
