Everything was lost in the fire….

In the early hours of last Thursday, February 15th a devastating fire destroyed a home in our small close knit, community in a tiny place called Carruchan in the Kennedy Valley just north of Cardwell, far north Qld.

Young home owners, Tim and Clare were lucky to escape with their lives, Nothing was spared; their lovely old Queenslander was burnt to the ground, their much loved dog, their cars, all their possessions, Tim’s work tools, Clare’s wedding ring…everything was lost.

Tim and Clare are a loved young couple in our community who married last year and have spent the last year settling into their home and married life in Carruchan. Their home was a beautiful shaded old timber Queenslander on the edge of a Meunga Creek. It is no more…

The house was insured but nothing else…

At present they have nothing but the night clothes they escaped in and we know our community, their friends and others will want to help if they can… we feel the best way to do this is to raise funds to assist them to recover from this devastating event in their young lives….

Tim and Clare have the wonderful support of their families where they will stay until they have a plan for the future.
