Samia Story and Her Struggles with Cancer and War

Hello everyone,

I am Mrs. Tahani Issa, and I will narrate to you the story of my friend who is suffering from cancer. Her name is Mrs. Samia, and she is battling cancer. She is 40 years old, married, and a mother to a 20-year-old daughter. Before the devastation caused by the recent conflict, she was pursuing her studies in counseling psychology at Al-Aqsa University.

Amidst these upheavals, she welcomed a 5-month-old baby into this world, conceived through artificial insemination, a journey that cost her more than $4000. Despite the challenges, she remains grateful to God for this blessing.

Her home was not spared from violence in her area but was left damaged due to nearby bombings. As a result, she and her family were displaced to a shelter in Rafah city.

Allow me to share her journey with you. In 2014, a lump appeared on her face, leading to a diagnosis of facial cancer. She underwent surgery at Nasser Medical Complex to remove the tumor, but unfortunately, it recurred. Another surgery was performed in 2020 at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza, where the tumor was excised again. This recurring battle occurs in the parotid gland.

Despite the challenges, she clings to hope and continues to pursue her dream of conceiving. Now, God has blessed her with a child, and she is determined to undergo another surgery to rid herself of cancer. However, the lack of advanced medical facilities and specialized doctors in Gaza, along with financial constraints, hinder her ability to seek treatment abroad.

Before the conflict, she devoted herself to helping the needy, providing essentials such as flour, meat, and clothing to families and children in Rafah. It is unfortunate that financial constraints now prevent her from continuing this noble cause.

I appeal to you to help enable her family to travel abroad for her surgery, ensure her daughter completes her university education, and secure a future for her newborn amidst the backdrop of war, hunger, poverty, and the illness afflicting her shelter.
