ABOUT

Hi! My name is Melissa Morales, and I am the writer and director of the short film “Little Bear”. I am a NYC based Latina Puerto Rican filmmaker. My main passion comes from directing my own screenplays. What I most enjoy doing is making films that shine a light on the underrepresented voices and communities in the entertainment industry.

THE STORY

Inspired by 90s classic horror films like the Scream franchise as well as the Trick 'r Treat movie, "Little Bear" tackles important matters of assault and stalking, as well as exploring the underlying connections of memories and sisterhood.

Little Bear is a thriller/horror multigenre short film revolving around a Halloween party and a masked killer. It is a female-driven script that contains sociological and psychological themes of identity and struggle, with at its core being about memories and transformation of shared experiences and reflecting upon heavy subject matters of our world.

WHAT WE NEED

Our fundraising plan is to raise $20k within 3 months. We intend to do this primarily through crowdfunding. We still need your support in order to greenlight this production to help raise awareness about linked trauma through the victims & sufferers of pain, and of perpetual connections in shared moments.

The funds will go towards compensating the cast and crew for their hard work, meals, crafty, equipment rentals, production design, costumes and props, securing locations, insurance, permits, transportation, and more costs that will contribute towards the making of this film.
