Tracey's Last Wish to fund Jalen's Education- HALF WAY THERE
Donation protected
UPDATE! We are half way there! With donations on GFM and direct donations from a few Foundations, I was able to send in the Tuition for the 1st semester as well as the Housing Fees for the first year! MY JALEN is going to COLLEGE! His move in date is August 21! We still are working on raising money so that his year 2 will be covered and that he will be able to graduate from Norwalk Conservatory but I wanted to come on here to express my sincere thank you for your love and support in making my final wish come true. I love you.
Hello. My name is Tracey Allen. I am a single mom to two amazing boys and I have end stage Breast Cancer. I was first diagnosed in November of 2021 and then had a recurrence in April 2024. I have been told that I have 70 days to organize my affairs and am in Hospice Care at LongLeaf Hospice. I have one wish before I can go in peace. My wish is to be sure that Jalen will forfill his dreams and complete college. I know I will not physically be at his college graduation, but it would mean everything to me, to know that he will have the financial stability to finish college. Jalen is my youngest son and has dreamed of being an Actor since he was 3 years old.
Jalen has been accepted to Norwalk Conservatory in Connecticut as an Acting/Film Major. Out of thousands of applicants, the program accepts 16 acting/film majors, and 16 musical theater majors every year. This is considered a "lottery school" and Jalen has one of the spots. This is a dream come true for him. He has worked so hard to get to this point and I don't want to fail him but not being able to get him there.
Jalen has received the program's largest scholarship possible. The Director of the Program believes in Jalen and asked the Board of Directors to extend the scholarship for both years. We need to come up with Room and Board which is $18,000 a year.
I had filled out the FAFSA paperwork and had gotten approved for $11,000 so I thought I could make this happen somehow, between what I have socked away and my life insurance. However, I have just found out that FAFSA can not be applied to this program because it is a 2 year conservatory program. Any other option we have that does accept FAFSA, ends up much more expensive in addition to being a four year program instead of a 2 year program.
As you know, it has always been difficult for me to ask for help, but I realize that this is more about my boys than it is about me. I need the help to set Jalen up for success in this industry that he was born to be in.
Every dollar helps. Every dollar. Thank you so much for sharing my dream with anyone that can help Jalen. I love you all.
Help this go viral because if 50,800 people could just donate one dollar, this could happen for him. Wouldn't that be something?
