Tracy Callaway: Medical Expenses ❤️
Donation protected
My name is Jessie and, as most of you know, I am the daughter to two incredible humans, Rick and Tracy Callaway. What some of you may or may not know, back in September my beautiful, kind-hearted mom was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. She has chosen to fight the monster, that we unfortunately know all to well, in hopes to get as much time with her family as possible. She began radiation and chemotherapy in Lubbock, TX in October and has been fighting like hell ever since.
A little back story into how this all began, back in September, my dad took my mom to the ER for what began as “tingling” in her leg, then (en route to the hospital) progressed to a twitching in her eye. She was experiencing stroke-like symptoms, the ER in Roswell treated her for a stroke, then immediately airlifted her to Lubbock for further care. Once in Lubbock, we learned that her MRI actually showed something different than what they were expecting. My mom had a mass in her brain and at the time, they had no idea what it was. After a week in SICU filled with every test and scan imaginable, they finally decided to biopsy the mass in her brain. While performing the biopsy, the neurosurgeon could tell right away that this was indeed a tumor and appeared to be what they call a high-grade glioma. Mayo Clinic later confirmed his suspicions and we were told while treatment was an option and could possibly give her more time, it would not cure the cancer.
As you can imagine, the last few months have been extremely difficult. Not only grappling with the news of her diagnosis, but the physical and emotional toll the treatment has taken, the difficulty of driving back and forth to Lubbock and practically having to live there during treatment, as well as an unimaginable amount of medical bills slowly piling up. My dad has put his business up for sale in order to be able to care for my mom, she is unable to drive due to the risk of seizures and has required more assistance as time has gone on and her treatment continues. Neither of them have been able to work enough to keep up with the medical costs since this all began, though not for a lack of trying. My mom continues to go to work when able, despite how bad she may feel, but they just can’t keep up and we know it will only become more difficult as time goes on.
For a family who does not ask for help or even prayers often, I am asking for both. I am asking you to help two people who have spent so much of their time and lives helping others. I am asking you to help two people who seem to keep drawing the short stick in life, but have never and will never let it get them down. I am asking you to help the most incredible woman I have ever known. But above all else, I am asking for your prayers! She will do her part, which is fight like hell so we can all continue to see her beautiful smiling face, now let’s help her with the rest.
All of your love, support, and prayers are greatly appreciated!! ❤️
