Tracy's Battle With Breast Cancer

Donation protected
Tracy Kiesler is a single mother of four awesome boys. Her oldest is 21 years old and lives in Madison while attending school at Liberty University. Her other 3 boys, ages 17, 15 and 12 all live with her in Burlington. Tracy works at Shepherds College as the Human Resources Assistant and Volunteer Coordinator. She also works in the field of addiction as an Addiction Recovery Coach. Tracy is passionate about her role as a coach and about the mission of Shepherds College, which exists to help individuals with intellectual disabilities graduate from college and gain Appropriate Independence™. She attends Journey Church in Burlington and is on fire for the Lord! Her relationship with Jesus Christ is evident in all that she does. Tracy is such a blessing to be around - her positivity and enthusiasm is inspiring and contagious!

In June of 2019 Tracy was diagnosed with breast cancer. This was a very scary time, as the shock of receiving this kind of news and the anxiety of not knowing what to expect or what could happen became more and more burdensome. Thankfully Tracy has been and continues to be surrounded by wonderful family and friends who care for her, pray for her and support her. Her cancer journey has also strengthened her relationship with Christ and this relationship continues to grow every single day.

Tracy underwent a surgical procedure in early July and was off of work for a few weeks in order to recover from the surgery.  After that recovery period she started radiation treatment five days a week, for four weeks, in Kenosha. Radiation was very difficult on Tracy, as she struggled with the side effects of nausea, fatigue and migraines, which ultimately led to the need for her to take several more weeks off of work. Tracy had already exhausted her paid medical leave and PTO benefits during her recovery from surgery back in July. Her time off for radiation treatment was partially covered by a short term disability policy.

Tracy was able to return to work in September, but the cancer medication she has been prescribed (and will have to be on for the next five years) causes joint and muscle pain, weakness, fatigue and brain fog. Due to these side effects she is currently only able to work part time. Shepherds College has been very understanding and supportive throughout this entire process, but the medical bills for cancer treatment, coupled with the lack of ability to work full time has caused a rather significant financial strain. Tracy and her kids will soon be moving out of their apartment and into the home of a nearby family member. While she is very grateful to have a home to go to, moving out of her own apartment has been a very difficult challenge for her.

We are hoping to raise funds to help ease Tracy's financial burden. Our goal and prayer is that living with her family member will be a temporary situation and that this fundraiser will allow her to get back on her feet as soon as possible! Helping to life this financial burden will also allow Tracy to continue to focus on regaining her health and strength from cancer treatment. If you feel called to do so and you have the means, a donation to Tracy Kiesler would mean the world to her and her children! Thank you so much for allowing us to share her story and for considering a donation. Take care and God Bless!
