Tracy’s recovery (BRAVE THE SHAVE)

This fundraiser is to raise any amount of money to put towards a welfare fund to aid my mother in her fight against cancer.

over a year ago my mother was diagnosed with a rare type of breast cancer known as triple negative breast cancer, she fought strong and hard all year, with intense chemo and radiotherapy, and surgery on her lymphnodes. After being given the all clear last year, she got back to living with some level of normality.

however recently, she was advised to go into a&e with a suspected chest infection, only to be devastated with the news that her cancer had returned. Unfortunately, not just had her cancer returned, but this time her breast cancer had spread to both of her lungs, and her brain. After further checks, it was diagnosed that her breast cancer had spread across her lungs leaving multiple different sized growths, additionally she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in the brain, consisting of 28 small tumours.

this news was obviously devastating for everyone involved, however I don’t think anyone can relate to what my mother must be feeling having thought she defeated cancer, only to be diagnosed with terminal cancer in the brain and lungs a year later. After fighting for so long and having to go back to square one, the level of stress is incomparable.

TO RAISE MONEY:

to raise money I have thought of the idea of shaving my hair completely, not only in an attempt to make my mother feel more comfortable with the loss of her hair through treatment, but also to raise any amount of money I can to donate directly to her to make her as comfortable as possible.

i have always been a person who has fairly long and thick hair, and so it’s a big change to shave it all off, this is the reason I have chosen this to raise money

Despite the target being £500 any amount of money raised would be a huge success for me, I want to be able to contribute towards the financial peace of mind in her head, with her treatment there will be large amounts of time where she will be on sick pay and If I can raise anything to take the pressure off of that then it’s a win for me!

all proceeds will go directly towards my mother to help support her financially and to provide a fund for anything she may require to make her situation more comfortable.
