Trae and Amy Crawford
Donation protected
To all those out there that help good people in need, we are asking for help and support for our friend and co-worker Amy. After having worked with her and known her personally for almost two decades, we know she is a down to earth, hardworking person who has always prided herself on making her own way and not burdening those she loves.
However, Amy’s husband, Trae, was diagnosed with stage 3 throat and neck cancer in August of 2019. He's currently unable to work. His radiation and chemo program started Monday, September 23rd and for the next 7 weeks radiation treatment will be every day with chemo once a week. Treatment may have to be paused for a short while due to intense pain.
As of right now, he is not able to swallow food or liquids due to the intense pain and swelling, and all nutrition is administered through a feeding tube. Depending on when the pain and swelling subsides, and if he regains the ability to swallow, he will have the feeding tube for the remainder of treatment and a month or two during recovery.
If treatment is successful, his recovery will take few months. If it isn't successful, he could be facing surgery to remove the lymph nodes and more treatment. Until treatment is over we won’t know what long term problems he will be dealing with.
He has the heart of a warrior, and we expect him to conquer this disease, but the fact is that this has put a tremendous financial burden on Amy, who is now the sole wage earner as well as caregiver. What would be a struggle to most, she is able to juggle a full time job to keep their household afloat, while at the same time dedicating untold hours to his care. As Amy’s friends and co-workers, we've started this page to humbly ask for donations to help relieve the financial stress that comes along with treatment and recovery. As we all know, insurance only covers a portion of the costs and any contribution of any size would be greatly appreciated.
We cannot thank you enough for just taking the time to read this and share his story. It means more than you will ever know.
