Trafalgar Student Fundraiser

Hi,

At Trafalgar school we have been busy supporting one of our students, who has a rare form of Epilepsy, which can see her suffer between 50 to 100 seizures within a 24 hour period. The condition is called NPRL3 Medical Resistant Focal Epilepsy and only affects around a 100 people in the world. While Kaitlyn has had epilepsy since she was two-years-old, it has become worse due to COVID. Her diagnosis means that surgery options available on the NHS are unlikely to work.

Kaitlyn’s family are now appealing for help after finding a surgery available in the USA which could have a positive impact on her life. Kaitlyn is someone who demonstrates all our core values and is always striving to achieve her best in everything she does. She is kind, positive and resilient. She has made the courageous decision to allow her self to be identified in hope that she will be able to raise awareness and educate our community about her epilepsy.

Our Trafalgar community have come together over the last few months to host various events to support Kaitlyn's treatment.

Next week we are hosting a whole school event called '1000 miles for Kaitlyn' where our students will be moving for a combined total of 1000 miles. Student's can run, skip or walk during their allotted time.

There will also be other sporting activities available at lunch times in the gym. This will support our efforts to raise as much money as we can to help Kaitlyn in receiving the treatment she needs to live her life to the full.
