Tragedy Strikes Beloved Local Cat Rescue Hero

Tax deductible
LARGO, FL – Laura Kile, a well-known and beloved cat foster mom for Rescue Pets of Florida was severely injured in a tragic house fire in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 21, 2022 as she attempted to save the lives of many foster cats and kittens and her personal pets. Fire rescue had to pull her away as she frantically tried to save as many as possible. Her bloodied palm print can be seen on the wall next to a window she was going back into the burning house to save more. She was admitted into the ICU for burns and respiratory injuries at Tampa General Hospital. Details are still unfolding, but several cats were transported to Blue Pearl Emergency Pet Hospital. Their condition is grave. Local cat trappers are in the neighborhood attempting to find cats and kittens who may have been pulled out of the burning home by Laura. Laura was renting her home and lost everything in the fire. In coordination with veterinary resources, Rescue Pets of Florida has set up an emergency treatment and care center in the home of another foster family. So far, 12 cats have been saved, and more have been sighted. Rescue Pets of Florida are organizing a Go Fund Me to assist Laura in her recovery and cover the treatment cost for the cats injured in the fire. Our prayers go out to Laura who has lost all her possessions and her pets in this terrible fire. Laura has put herself out time and time again to help pets in the community. Hopefully, the community will rally to help one of our needed heroes! Please share this story to as many as possible, as Luara will need to start from scratch.
