Tragic fire caused the death of beloved mother

Hi, my name is Nahim and I’m fundraising for my friend, Kris Antonio. This past Friday, February 3rd, 2023, a tragic fire resulted in the death of his beloved mother, Janet Rogers. I’ve known Kris for over 30 years and ever since I could remember, he was always taking care of his mom. As she’s gotten older, his responsibilities increased and never wavered. He sacrificed so much in life to make sure he’s always by her side and she’s well taken care of. Their life is, truly, a precious story of the unbreakable bond between mother and son.

This past Friday (2/3/23), Kris woke up and began his daily routine of prepping Janet’s medicine, breakfast and lunch before he heads for work. Shortly after, as Janet sits on the sofa to watch TV, the room caught on fire and became uncontrollable. She dialed 911 at 9:13 am and was struggling to evacuate. As the Fire chief and police first arrived on the scene, they were in full communication with her. A police officer was even able to break into the home through the back door and communicate with her. However, for some reason, they were not able to take her out of the home. An officer was injured on the scene while another attempted to enter the home 3 times and all 3 times was able to make contact with Janet, but on the 4th attempt, they received no response.

It’s not quite clear what the exact events were that prevented them from evacuating Janet, but we will continue to search for answers that can help Kris get some closure.

Kris lost his mother in such a tragic manner that it’s hard to fathom how any of us could handle this kind of situation if the roles were reversed, especially as tight of a bond that they both had with each other. I can only pray that Kris finds peace and this fundraiser can help alleviate some of the stress and pain he’s had to endure these past few days.

I’m organizing this to help Kris with, not only the funeral arrangements but also everything that he lost in the fire as well. He lost everything and every bit can help him get back on his feet. His entire life was in that home and even though we can’t recover the memories and love from that home, we can at least give him some peace to start over.
