Tragic loss of Myra Luisa & Luis Bantigue

Donation protected

On August 15, 2021 Myra went to the ER due to dehydration and that’s when she tested positive for COVID-19. She received fluids and oxygen and was sent home that same day. After a few days, her symptoms worsened and Myra was admitted to hospital on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. She was 31 weeks pregnant and the doctors strongly advised to go ahead with a c-section to help relieve the pressure on her lungs. At that point, she had pneumonia in both lungs and was struggling to breathe. Myrabella was born premature on August 19, 2021 and was placed in the NICU and will remain there until she’s able to go home with her father, Wayne. Myra was put in an induced coma and placed on a ventilator to help her body rest and recover. After being on the ventilator for 12 days, Myra’s oxygen level dropped and heart rate started to decrease. The doctors saw pneumothorax in one of her lungs, inserted a chest tube hoping it would help but it didnt. A couple of minutes after, her oxygen level continued to drop as well as her heart rate. Myra then coded, the nurses and doctors worked on her trying to resuscitate her but was unsuccessful. Heaven gained another angel on August 29, 2021. Myra left behind her new born Myrabella, her husband Wayne, her mother Susan, her father Luis who is also fighting for his life due to covid, her brother Louie, and her nephew Lex.

Myra’s father, Luis was experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and was tested positive. On August 20, 2021 Luis went to the ER due to having shortness of breath, diarrhea and fever. The doctors wanted Luis to stay overnight to be observed and to receive oxygen. Once his oxygen level improved and maintained 97, he was able to go home the following day with a 5L oxygen tank to take with him. After a few days, August 23, 2021 his breathing worsened and was taken to the hospital where he was admitted. The hospital was over capacity so Luis was placed in ER holding for 2 days until there was an available room. They continued to give him oxygen high flow at 55L. When Luis’s oxygen wasn’t improving, they put him on continuous bipap for a few days in the ICU close monitoring unit. They continued to prone Luis to help with his oxygen. None of the other treatments were working. The last option was to intubate him and place him on a ventilator. His condition was getting better within 24 hours of being put on the ventilator and then started to worsen quickly.

Myra had to fight for her life with no family by her side and Luis is still fighting for his life.

We are setting up this go fund me to help with funeral arrangements, medical bills, preparations for the new born, and to help with other household bills that accumulated while this family has been going through this tragedy. Any monetary contributions will be greatly appreciated at this time.

UPDATE  09/08/2021- Luis Bantigue fought hard against COVID-19  and has joined his daughter Myra Luisa up in heaven.
