Trailer Fundraiser - Layne's Rubbish Collection
Hey, everyone!
Layne's Rubbish Collection is an unofficial non-profit/environmental/community organisation in Redland City, QLD Australia. What does Layne's Rubbish Collection do? Layne's Rubbish Collection organises weekly clean-up events to remove litter from roadsides, parks and sometimes even waterways anywhere in Redland City. All our work is totally voluntary and not a cent is used other than to benefit future clean-up efforts. Since starting volunteer clean-ups at the start of 2019, Layne's Rubbish Collection has removed a total of 231 bags of rubbish from the environment along with thousands of larger items. We've also had a total of 46 people volunteer at clean-ups and we've cleaned a total of 8 different locations across Redland City. We're currently cleaning our 9th location.
All donations will be going towards a trailer for Layne's Rubbish Collection. Why do we need a trailer? A trailer will come in handy when disposing of all the rubbish that we collect from our clean-ups. In recent clean-ups, we've seen larger volunteer numbers meaning more litter collected at each clean-up. Currently, I'm having to do two trips every clean-up to and from the location that we're cleaning due to how much rubbish we're removing. If Layne's Rubbish Collection had a trailer, it would make disposing of the rubbish easier and save a lot of time and fuel. Having a trailer means we can take care of larger/heavier items ourselves such as truck tyres, large pieces of concrete, boat masts, bricks etc. as well as the multiple bags of rubbish we get each clean-up. With a trailer, we could also store more equipment for clean-ups such as more bags, litter grabbers, gloves, buckets and other tools that come in handy every now and again. The sooner we get this trailer, the sooner we can begin to make clean-ups more efficient and time-effective. Saving fuel on trips means fewer emissions and less money spent.
Since I personally began picking up rubbish in late August of 2018. All cash donations that I've received from members of the public I've kept in a separate bank account specifically for Layne's Rubbish Collection. Other forms of income come from rubbish that we pick up such as the Containers for Change scheme and scrap metal. We also volunteered our time for the Redlands Coast Fun Run 2019 resulting in us being donated $500. I already have $1000 in the Layne's Rubbish Collection account from all of the forms of income that I have just listed above.
All donations no matter what the amount will be appreciated. Whether we reach the goal of $2,500 or we only reach $10. Anyone who shares this fundraiser via any social media platforms or by telling someone about it in real life will be enough. As long as we have your support one way or another, that's all that matters.
