Let’s get Mali trained & adopted!

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

Thank you all for following Mali’s story! We are reaching out for help to get Mali some training lessons and anything left over will be donated to MAD Rescue who has been helping us find her a forever home.

My dad found Mali in the Oakland Hills about 6 weeks ago. He stopped and waited patiently for Mali to trust him when many people passed by. He left his car doors open and after about 30 minutes she went willingly into his car.

She was scared and super tired the first day he found her. TMI but she didn’t poop for 2 days so we think she was outside for a couple of days.

When we found her, her hair was matted, she didn’t know what a treat was, she didn’t know how to play with toys, she only knew one command (sit, and it was a slow sit not an immediate sit), she didn’t know what grass was, and she had this weird habit of holding in her pee for a really long time even when we would go out for walks.

She is super young. We took her to the vet and they think she is 1 years old and was used for breeding and then dumped. Mali will need obedience training. She doesn't seem to like dogs very much or cats which is pretty normal for the breed but she definitely needs some training about how to be in public with other dogs.

She has really come out of her shell this last month. She’s a loving, confident and sweet dog who just wants to be near people. She loves to play and eager to please. She’s extremely intelligent. She now knows sit, up, down, roll, shake, place, sniff it out, and heel.

Three weeks ago she was spayed and she recovered really quickly!

We are currently working with MAD Rescue to find her a home. If you are interested in Mali please apply here:

We are having a difficult time placing her because she would need to be in a home without any animals at first anyways (we think it would be best for her to integrate into a home with no other animals). Mali does need training and we are asking for help to raise some funds so we can get her trained and to have a better opportunity to get adopted.

I'd love to continue training with Francis. She has made significant strides - she is more attentive, walking significantly better on leash, she is more tolerant of other dogs and after our second session she was able to lay down calmly in the same area as another dog. I'd like to do 10 sessions with Francis at Canine Circus School. Each session is $160.

Funds will be used for training and anything left will be donated to MAD Rescue.

Thanks so much for following our journey!
