My name is Daniela Patino and I am Sara's girlfriend, we have known each other for over three years and have dated for four months. We met online, she lives in Venezuela and I live in the United States, so it is a long distance relationship. Since the beginning have gotten along perfectly and as time progressed our bond have gotten stronger. Before we started dating I was always worried for Sara's well being, sending her everything I could to help her situation, treating her by the pronouns her identity aligns with, supporting her in general in every single way possible. However, I'm not in a position provide all the monetary support of the things she needs to free herself from her house and start her transition, I feel desperate as the things she suffers are despicable, every second deteriorates her mental health. That's why we created this fundraiser in order to have some monetary support from a third party.
Since GoFundMe is not supported in Venezuela, I would be responsible to receive the money and send it to her via PayPal.
The following is what Sara wanted to say, explaining her situation in first person:
"I am a trans woman who lives in Tachira, Venezuela. My environment is in itself depressing and deteriorating, basic necessities such as food and electricity are insufficient to maintain a decent quality of life, but it is more degrading adding the fact that the community reduces individuals such as myself as punching bags and sexual toys for their entertainment (which i had the misfortune to experience both first hand). Being out of the closet means being exposed to the most twisted and sickening aspects of humanity.
My mental state is progressively purifying, I am diagnosed with ADHD and aspergers, I have shown clear signs of depression and I've often experience episodes of psychosis, I haven't had the chance to go to a psychologist to get an update on the things I have since my family are neither concerned nor interested in helping me in any shape or form, my mom seems more concerned on getting crack rather than my well-being.
My family is the mayor reason why I have developed depression, as each of them contribute their grain of stress onto me, abusing me mentally and physically. Aside from the constant bullying and harassment, I have been robed in my own home by my own blood, the little I have is being taken from me, giving me no chance to grow financially between these walls. It is impossible to be safe in this country and specially in this house without falling upon misery and wonders if I should just give up my hopes and potential as the idea of becoming successful seems further away.
Lastly but not less important, my gender dysphoria, my voice being the mayor contributor to my inconform, but voice surgeries are way to expensive to afford, specially from someone that lives in extreme poverty such as myself.
I ask for 15k, as with that amount of money I can escape from this country for a more trans-friendly environment, that facilitates the entrance of education as I want to study programming (currently self taught), philosophy, psychology, art and animation.
Ideally I would like to use the money to acquire a VISA in the us to finally see my girlfriend, but the current US government makes me believe individuals such as myself does not belong, I would still try and if the process takes long I will move to another country where immigration rules are lighter for Venezuelans.
Along with being able to maintain myself while I find a job, transport my cat with me,
pay off my voice operation and other transition aspects. Clothes that appeal to my identity aswell as getting the help I need for my mental health would be finally possible.
I am excited to believe that I can escape the hell I inhabit and finally grow as a person doing what I love, that the world isn't conspiring againts me and even with the misfortunes I experienced over the years there is hope for me.
