We are TRANScend...and we've grown.
When we came to you last, we were a new ensemble with just 14 members. Today, we've expanded to two choirs -- a community chorale and a performing chamber ensemble -- plus, we're starting our Spring season with 35 members and a much broader audience and presence on social media. In the past year, we've sung on NYC7 for the annual Pride parade, performed at a performing arts-centered high school, sang a concert in the Jerome L. Green room at the NYPL's Stavros Niarchos location, been featured in two film projects, and sang with a trans health activist icon, Dallas Denney!
We’re excited about our growth, but as we expand, we are presented with new challenges. Our next big step? We need portable, choral risers to accommodate the rising member count, and to provide a stable, more accommodating structure for choir members with mobility needs. Our concert host, St. John's in the Village, has graciously offered us storage space (thank you, St. John's!), but risers are expensive, and that's why we're reaching out to you.
$5,000 will allow us to purchase:
- A set of mobile risers that will hold up to 60 singers, accommodating our future growth;
- Back and side guard rails for balance and security of the singers on the highest levels of the risers;
- A mobile storage cart, to allow us to easily move the risers wherever we perform; and
- Shipping from the manufacturer to St. John's.
