Transform an apartment complex for foster youth

Hi plant lovers,

 

About two weeks ago, I was given the opportunity to change and transform an apartment complex for a nonprofit agency, First Place For Youth. The mission of First Place is to help foster youth build the skills they need to make a successful transition to self-sufficiency and responsible adulthood.

 

While I understand that plants won't change the foster care system, I know that plants make people feel good and completely change the vibe of a space.

 

I am partnering with 3R Garden Design  to transform the landscape of the apartment complex on Saturday, June 25th. The design plan is to plant a mix of California drought-tolerant native plants, along with plants that attract hummingbirds, butterflies and edible plants that the young people can use for cooking. It is going to be a whole experience for them!

 

It is a big project and one that we cannot do alone. Plus we know that we're stronger when we work together! We would LOVE your help with:

 

The complex is large. We have enough to cover half of the space, with your contribution we can update even more of their landscape, or donate money directly to the organization to support the young people.
