Donation protected
We are the Powerful, Tough, Talented Ladies who are supporting The People's Academy (TPA) in Dorchester, MA to raise the initial funds for their new site at the corner of Warren and Quincy Street in Roxbury, MA. As you can see from the architectural rendition in this document at the bottom, TPA is on its way to providing much-needed services to uplift the Boston community.

This unique program is designed to uplift, educate, empower, create generational wealth, reduce crime, recidivism, and strengthen the communities of especially Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan, and those communities which comprise Boston. There are presently $61,000,000,000 in construction projects coming to this area.

T. Michael Thomas (the modern-day Paul Revere according to the Exhibit Curator of the Paul Revere Museum in Canton, MA, and Booker T. Washington by The Powerful, Tough, Talented Ladies) is a man on a mission. T. Michael is a master coppersmith, which is a journey from an apprenticeship of 4-5 years to a journeyman, then to a master. Only a few become a “master” at the craft. As a member of the Sheet Metal Union, 1157 Adams in Dorchester, T. Michael worked on the copper work on Massachusetts General Hospital, Faneuil Hall, the Massachusetts State House, the Elizabeth Stewart Gardner Museum, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, Boston University, Boston Central Artery/Big Dig, MBTA train stations, and many more. As there was no air traffic immediately after 9/11/2001, T. Michael was asked to drive to St. Louis, Missouri to complete the Mark-up of the Big Dig Project.

T. Michael’s goal for The People’s Academy is to train as many people as possible to preserve beautiful historic copper work worldwide. TPA is the only one of its kind in The Commonwealth of Massachusetts. TPA is a two-year apprenticeship program with a goal of enrolling and graduating 100 students per year. The two-year program begins with the basics of the building trade, culminating in hands-on training and skills to begin working in fabrication and installation of metals, specializing in copper.

TPA’s training focuses on teaching the most needed trade globally. T. Michael states, “Our mission is to train as many people as possible to preserve the historic architectural design in our modern cities and towns. This will enable participants to take care of their families, establish generational wealth, become a positive model to the community, and become a functional and contributing part of the economy. After a two-year apprentice program, they begin their careers with entry-level jobs that pay from $60-80,000 per year.”

They participate in wrap-around services such as financial literacy classes, trauma-based counseling, GED classes, and work readiness classes. They will no longer be unemployed, underemployed, underserved, marginalized, or hopeless returning citizens. They will be vibrant citizens, financially sound, and community-oriented. They will be able to pass this learning on to future generations.

Over 15 plus years ago, T. Michael Thomas started the Academy in his home, presenting the concept to community and civic leaders in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This innovative program has piqued interest in Rhode Island, Baltimore, MD, Chicago, IL, and Montreal, Canada. In fact, he has been invited to showcase this innovative program in New Zealand. T. Michael Thomas has a heart for the City of Boston. He showed a structural plan of a program designed to establish financial stability to not only the young but to those who are willing to invest their time to grow into the future, people who are looking for stability in these rocky economic times.

He has presented a structural plan of this innovative program, designed to help students establish financial stability to not only the young but to those who are willing to invest their time to grow into the future - people who are looking for improved fiscal security in these rocky economic times.

Please join T. Michael and the Powerful, Tough, Talented Ladies in building our new site located on the corner of Warren and Quincy in Roxbury, Massachusetts. The building includes classrooms, shop classes, living space for 20 women and 20 men (the remaining 80 students will be commuters with the provision of bus passes), and housing for 8-10 staff, a recording studio where classes in music production will be taught, and "no cost" rooms for community meetings.

HELP US CREATE GENERATIONAL WEALTH FOR THESE RETURNING CITIZENS, THE MARGINALIZED, UNEMPLOYED, AND UNDEREMPLOYED PERSONS IN OUR COMMUNITIES.
