Transit van for fosterkids
Donation protected
This is difficult to write. I've always been good enough to my family, for my kids. However, in the last year, my wife and I started to work towards our long-time dream of becoming foster parents. Both of us felt that we had been gifted to kids, with alot of love, and the experiences in life to deal with the many different situations that arise when being part of the fostercare world.
And we were right.
We took in our first child in May, a long-term foster boy who had been in fostercare for almost a full decade. Far too many parents had taken him in and then not chosen him to live with them forever. Not only is here to stay, but he is looking to be adopted within half a year. Our second long-term foster baby came in the form of a 16 year old girl who can be as sassy as anyone. Very shy, very sweet, she just needed a family to not give up.
But then, life threw us a curveball. My wife, Jaclyn, went in for a routine screening and found out that she has 8 masses in both her breasts. So she took the brave step to begin a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery, which we began in early November 2022.
But life doesn't just give you one curveball, it keeps them coming as often as possible. And in December 2022, 1 week before Christmas, we received a phone call from our County's Health and Human Services representatives asking us if we would take in 2 babies.
Our problem though is the size of our family - a total of 8 kids during the week and an additional 3 on the weekends with a long-term respite care trio, for a total of 11 kids on the weekend. We don't have a vehicle large enough to get around. We started looking at 15 passenger transit vans back in October but everyone of them are $45,000 or more, and those are used. We need help so we can help others. And I am hoping that you will be willing to help get us to where we need to be. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask
