Transitional Housing for Women in Shelters in SJ
Due to inflationary pressures, we are $400,000 short of the $2.4 million dollars needed to provide a place to start for women experiencing long-term homelessness. We have until March 31st to raise the rest of the funds and we need your help to get there. Any contribution toward our 12 unit affordable housing project matters. Anything you can provide will help! Please share our call if you can!
Saint John is in the midst of the largest housing crisis we have ever faced. We need stable, affordable housing for all and it is just not there right now. Women enter into homelessness for various reasons, but many have experienced abuse and trauma and have exhausted all of their resources before they arrive at a shelter. Once homeless, women are at high risk of experiencing severe forms of violence and trauma. We need housing now!
The Coverdale Centre for Women has raised 2 million dollars to build a 12 unit transitional housing building for women in shelter in Saint John, NB. The cost of construction has raised significantly since we began this project and we are now just $400,000 short of breaking ground this spring. This building will be located near essential services and will provide housing and supports to women on their pathway to permanent stable housing. All funds raised will go directly toward building the housing that these women need now.
The Coverdale Centre for Women has provided shelter to homeless women for 14 years in Saint John, NB, and we have seen firsthand the difficulty women face in transitioning into permanent housing. Our goal is to provide women with the best opportunities to break through these barriers and successfully transition to independence.
Contributions to this transitional housing project are 100% tax-deductible.
Together we can make a difference in our community! Please share widely if you can and #WeNeedHousing
Thank you!
