Transport for Little Prinz Childrens Home
Quick Update!
First we would like to thank all of you who have donated so far. As some of you might know I was able to travel to Kenya recently and spend some time at the Little Prinz Orphanage. One thing that became apparent straight away was the absolute necessity and importance of purchasing a vehicle for the orphanage. Having your own vehicle for transportation is something a lot of us living in Oz, the U.S and England etc. seem to take for granted. In Kenya, and more so in the outer provinces like Kakamega where Little Prinz is situated, vehicle ownership is very rare. Most people use public transport like a Matatu (small bus) or Boda-boda (motorbike taxi)
This form of transport is how most people in the area get around, and how I got into town when needed. For me it was fun and exciting when it was a nice sunny day and the roads were fairly dry. This is not the case though, when it is 2 in the morning, dark and cold, and you have a deathly sick infant who needs to be rushed to the Hospital Emergency. Finding a motorbike taxi rider who is willing to make this trip at this time is another matter altogether! Mama (Jessica) told me that this happened just a couple of weeks before my visit.
When Josh and I first started this campaign, we had no idea the impact that being able to help provide a vehicle of this nature to the orphanage would make. After spending a week there, I am now 100% convinced that we have made the right decision in taking on this task, and that the difference it will make to the childrens lives will be immeasurable.
I thought I would quickly update the reasons why we are undertaking this fundraiser, and also explain the goal change. Yes we have updated the goal, after being there in person, talking to Collins (one of the orphanage Directors) and seeing the types of vehicles available at the goal we had set, we have re-evaluated our goal to reflect a more practical, safer and mechanically reliable vehicle.
Please be assured that all the money raised will go to the purchase of the orphanage bus.
Original Post:
Hi, this is Bobby and Josh from Timeless Projects, and we are raising funds for the Littleprinz childrens home in Kenya. The donations we are hoping to raise will go towards a safe and reliable vehicle needed for the transportation of the children in the care of Collins and Jessica the founders of the home.
As a mostly family run organisation the work that they are doing is absolutely amazing! We have no words for the hard work and sacrifice that has gone into the making of this foundation, the years of hard work have helped change the lives and futures for those children lucky enough to have been touched by Collins, his mum Jessica, brother Bramwell, sister Judy and the other tireless workers at Littleprinz.
We have been personally affected by them after coming across their Instagram page and website https://littleprinzorphanage.org/ and encourage you to read some of the experiences to understand the importance of the work that they have undertaken. There is nothing we can add to the stories of young children like Eunice and Lawrence to emphasise the difference that has been gifted to them by this loving and caring family.
For those of you who know Josh and myself, we have contacted Collins personally and are 100% sure that the funds we raise will be used for the purchase of a suitable transport vehicle to help with trips to medical appointments, emergencies and day to day necessities that present themselves with the work that they are doing. All we ask that you take the time to read some of the stories, and then ask yourselves as an organisation or individually, "Am I in a position to make a difference?"
Both Josh and I can be contacted through our @Timeless_Projects instagram page if you have any questions regarding this initiative. Thankyou for taking the time to read this story.
Regards
Bobby and Josh
