Trans Pride Seattle 2018!

Donation protected

Each year Gender Justice League produces Trans Pride Seattle. The Northwest's largest trans-specific event, serving nearly 10,000 people each year.  Trans Pride Seattle has been featured on the front page of the Seattle Times and heavily covered in all other local media. It is our community's opportunity to join together to learn, celebrate, connect, and resist.

This year we will be featuring both national and local performers, including Shea Diamond, Laith Ashley, Jade Dynasty, Randy Ford and many, many more!  We have chosen to shift our focus to include more musical, dance, burlesque, and spoken word performances this year, highlighting and paying more attention to local artists and talents with only two national headliners.

Gender Justice League is dedicated to creating an event that is accessible, community (and not corporate) funded, and focused squarely on highlighting the leaders, talents, and performances of those most impacted by racism, ableism, transphobia, and xenophobia.  This year will include our popular accessibility tent for a low-sensory / chill-out space, a QTPOC specific chill-out hospitality tent, and continued commitment to ASL and Spanish language translation.

Like many organizations, Trans Pride Seattle and Gender Justice League have been financially impacted by the change in federal administrations. Significant streams of revenue for our services and work have been cut off such as community direct HIV prevention funding, and housing discrimination education funding. These sources made up nearly 25% of Trans Pride Seattle's funding. Other 'mainstream' funding continues to be extremely hard for us to access - we receive no city or county funds, have no TPS specific grants, and do not accept major corporation sponsorships.

We have chosen to accept funds only from employee resource groups, labor unions, local non-profits, small businesses, and individual donors so that we can maintain a community-controlled event focused on political and cultural resistance - free from the influence of outside entities.

Rewards for this campaign will be available the day of Trans Pride Seattle, June 22nd, please see the Gender Justice League vendor table!
