Trap, Spay, Neuter, Release program in Palestine
Tax deductible
A few weeks ago, the town of Asira in the West Bank announced through a loudspeaker that they were going to poison all the feral dogs in town - which they estimated to be several hundred. The only way we could stop them was by promising we would trap and spay/neuter the dogs at Daily Hugz, which is the largest animal sanctuary in Palestine, caring for over 60 dogs and a dozen donkeys. We started the project the next day. So far, we've trapped 13 dogs, of which we've neutered 4 and spayed 1. In addition, we are treating the dogs for medical issues (one had a collar tightly wrapped on its neck which was digging into her skin and we treated another for a bad case of mange) and vaccinating them.
By starting the program immediately, we have achieved a temporary stay of the poisoning. But we need funding to be able to continue this program (for paying the vet and vaccination fees) or the municipality will revert back to poisoning the dogs. We estimate vaccinating and spaying/neutering each dog will cost about $75.
