Travel Costs for Bekah to Help Koens in Africa

Hello! Dan and Sonia here. In case some of you are unaware, we’re in Africa... and we’re pregnant. Quite the combo, right? We are expecting our second child to be born here in Sierra Leone in May, Lord willing, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome this blessing into our lives. 

However, as you can imagine, life here in Sierra Leone is rewarding but also strenuous. In addition to the kingdom work we moved here for, daily tasks such as washing laundry, cooking food, pulling water, and going to the market are a lot to handle for anyone. These tasks will be even more strenuous for Sonia when she is in the last stages of pregnancy and the weeks immediately following giving birth.  Because of these strains we’re calling in some backup. Enter Dan’s youngest sister Bekah. It would be a huge blessing to us for Bekah to come during the last few weeks of the pregnancy and stay for a few months after the birth in order to assist with the daily chores as well as someone who could help with the care of our 1 year old at times. 

Bekah stayed with us in Boston while we were pregnant with Eden and she proved herself to be incredibly valuable helping out with house work but, as anyone who knows her can confirm, she also provides a huge emotional and spiritual lift via her soft, gentle, and kind spirit. We can’t think of someone else we’d rather come help during this upcoming period. 

This being said, travel costs aren’t exactly cheap. Did I mention we live in Africa? In addition to the airfare, other miscellaneous expenses really add up like a passport, visa, vaccinations, preventative medications, multiple COVID tests, etc. We’re asking for your help to get this lovely lady to us by early May when Sonia’s mother, Romy, will also be traveling to help for a few weeks (note: if we exceed our goal funds than any additional donations will go toward helping Romy’s travel expenses). 

I can’t express how grateful we would be if this hope and prayer of having Bekah visit us could become a reality. Thanks in advance for the help!
