Help Traveller Pride Do More Good Things In 2025

Hallo, I'm Percy and I'm one of the three exec of Traveller Pride.
Having spoken to a lot of people about TP over the last few years, I have often had the response of "What do you MEAN, Traveller Pride is less than half a dozen people, and you almost never get paid? You seem to have so much going on!" And the truth is, we have done that by an enormous amount of goodwill, people working basically full-time for free (Often alongside their "real job") and spending their own money on Traveller Pride things.
So, I have set this total high - because yes, we do a lot on a very little, but we’d really like to be a bit less stretched and to do much more, and to be able to say "yes" to more people- Because although we never turn away someone who wants our help, we often have to tell people who want to work with us, that we just don't have the resources.
By supporting us you will be helping us to:
Run a library to enable queer Travellers to access literature by and about us and our heritage, both as Travellers and as LGBT people, for free, wherever they are in the country.
Provide binders to trans Travellers who cannot afford or safely access one themselves.
Run a solidarity fund so that we can support our fellow queer, trans and gender non conforming Travellers when times are tough. (After all, not everyone needs binders, some people need something else and this money can help them access that)
Hold meet up events to enable our community - who are often isolated and rarely get to meet other queer Travellers - to get together, connect and support each other.
Restart and expand our helpline service
Pay for some of our community to attend Pride or other cultural events
To pay each of the exec for at least some hours of their time, so that we can do this work without having to live like ascetic monks.
Earlier this year we produced work for an exhibition in Queer Britain (Which I hope at least some of you went to see! It was great fun) and we have been invited to exhibit more of the work made by that same group of artists in Todmorden in January. Getting people and their works to exhibitions, materials, accommodation etc all costs money but these are fantastic opportunities for our community to be visible on our terms and to tell our own stories through art that is by us and about us, to make sure that we are remembered as we see ourselves, as a social scene, a movement, a people, as who we actually are not just as some outsider's vague notion of who we might have been. Most of these artists had never been exhibited before (some of them didn't really think of themselves as artists before!) and being able to give them this opportunity has been profound - And we want to be able to make it even better. It'll probably cost around £3000 to get all 12 artists to Todmorden, so that is our first goal.
And then, with your help, the sky is the limit.
But, I'm getting beyond myself.
The short version is that once again, Traveller Pride has big plans and shallow pockets, but we are going to make our mark on the world and it would be a real vote of confidence if you all would help us.
