Travis' emergency surgery expenses

Two weeks ago Travis (my soon to be brother-in-law) was diagnosed with Diverticulitis (A condition in which small, bulging pouches develop in the digestive tract.) He was put on a high dosage of antibiotics and sent home. The pain and discomfort continued to get worse so Travis was rushed to the emergency room and admitted to the hospital on Thursday 11-17. He spent the weekend in the hospital doing blood tests and hooked up to IV and morphine, not able to eat or drink. Today Dr. Miller was hoping to perform Laparoscopy surgery (laparoscopy is a surgery that uses a thin, lighted tube put through a cut (incision) in the belly to look at the abdominal organs). However, what he found was the absessed area of the colon erupted. They removed 10 inches of the absessed colon and did a major rinsing to clean up his insides from the eruption. He also had to have his appendix removed. Because of this Trav has a tube down his throat, three drainage ports, about a five to six inch incision, colostomy bag, and an epideral in his back so he can administer his pain medication. He will spend 5 to 7 days in the hospital, 6 weeks recovery, and 2 to 3 months with colostomy bag and then another surgery to rehook colon. Travis does not have health insurance and is going to be out of work for at least a few months. He will need and apprecaite all of the help he can get!
