This is my brother Travis Garrett Sr. He is 31 years old. On Wednesday February 27th 2019 at around 3am he suffered a massive heart attack with 100% blockage. Travis was diagnosed diabetic when he was 21 years old but was managing it well. He was at the doctor on Tuesday and nothing was wrong. He was at st.lukes in Maumee and had underwent emergency surgery on his heart. He was then transferred to Henry Ford hospital in Michigan up in Detroit. When we got to Henry Ford The doctors gave us statistics and they were not on his side at all. We were devastated not knowing what may happen next.
Travis started to wake up which was not expected at that time. The first 36hrs were nothing but bad news.
my brother is a fighter and started to pull threw and show them doctors he is not another statistic and he will prove them wrong! And that what he has been doing ever since.
He had a ecmo installed in his groin along with a impella machine.
His next surgery was to move the ecmo up to his chest to help blood flow and the machine work better.
They also put slit and drains on both sides of his calves to help release pressure and improve circulation.
Next he was put on dialysis to help with swelling and kidney function.
He is alert.
Tomorrow March 7th he is going to have surgery to remove the ecmo! This is amazing. He is going in the right direction. He still has a long road ahead of him which is why we are asking for help.
currently his wife and parents are staying in guest housing on hospital campus which cost $73 a night. With that being saidTravis obviously isn’t working and neither is his wife. They have 3 children : lil Travis who is in 4th grade, Brody is 5 and Brooklyn will be 4 in March. We are asking for any help possible to help the family with bills, travel and any out of pocket expenses they may encounter.
