Treasure Beach, Jamaica - Hurricane Beryl Relief Aid

Hi, my name is Nannette. That part doesn't matter much, but what matters is Treasure Beach, Jamaica. This community in Jamaica was hit hard by Hurricane Beryl. So many of them have lost the entire roof or partial roof of their homes. Trees are uprooted all over the place. Roads are impassable. My husband (Trevor) has siblings that live there and are neighbours - they had to climb over trees and debris to get to each other. Two of his sisters homes are destroyed and his childhood home (the pink house in the picture) which raised all of he and his 9 siblings and was a place of refuge for many others in the community is destroyed.

Some folks have literally lost everything. My brother in-law walked around with his phone on live video. I can’t see the homes across the street because of the downed trees. Most folks do not have home Insurance to cover the cost of repairs and replacement. Some of these homes have been in families for so many decades passed down from one generation to the next.

Those who have been to Treasure Beach know that it is a beautiful community (not just aesthetically) but of hard working , loving people who will help each other to rebuild. If those downed trees could talk they would tell you so many laughs and tears that have been shared beneath them.

We cannot even go to Jamaica to help just yet. Airports are closed, roads all over the island are impassable. We are raising funds to get them supplies to rebuild their homes. Once travel is safe again, we are personally going to fly to Jamaica (using our own money), and will buy food and gift cards for the hardware stores. Our goal is to get everyone in Treasure Beach help, no matter how small the damage or repair. We want them to be able to have a roof over their head again, so they can sleep safe and dry at night.

Every little bit helps - please give whatever you can. All of the money we receive from this fundraiser will go toward building supplies and food/water for Treasure Beach residents.
