Treasure Cay Abaco Bahamas After Dorian
Donation protected
On September 1st, Hurricane Dorian decimated the Abacos in the Bahamas, leaving thousands homeless and many unaccounted for. The destruction caused power cables to collapse, water to be contaminated and serious food shortages to ensue. Early estimates are predicting up to a year to reconnect utilities meaning the road to recovery will be a long one.
The situation is devastating with 90% of houses totally destroyed and locals left with no other option but to evacuate to safety. They have lost their homes, their personal belongings and tragically, many have lost friends and family. Many Bahamians have now lost their only source of income too.
We are honored to be a part of the Treasure Cay community and for anyone who has been to Abaco or spent time in Treasure Cay, you will know what a special place it is and how wonderful the Bahamian people are. They will need help rebuilding and repairing the damage done to their homes and livelihoods. The aim of this page is to raise at least $30,000 which will be strategically distributed to rebuild houses and infrastructure to enable the Bahamians to return home. Whilst there are many charities and non-profit organisations helping with the aftermath of Dorian, it is imperative that we find the right one which will utilise funds to directly help rebuild the local community.
Please be assured, the Campi’s, Horsnalls and Mercers will thoroughly research the best place for the money to go and your donations will be rebuilding the lives of the wonderful Bahamian people.
