Treasure for Terry
Donation protected
When given a cancer diagnosis, one doesn’t immediately think of the cost it will take to fight it, but when you add up the procedures, surgeries, appointments, labs, ivig infusions to raise platelet numbers so the chemo can be given... It’s overwhelming!
My Aunt Terry has been one of my best friends since the day my Uncle Brian brought her into our family 23yrs ago. Sleep overs, Camping, Cook outs, Hot Tub & Shopping ~ I loved spending time with them. Sadly, We lost my Uncle tragically in 2005. I believe his spirit has remained within her to help get her through the struggles of life without him... But sometimes, that’s not enough.
It’s hard enough to fight cancer, but life doesn’t stop for one to do this. When first diagnosed with endometrial cancer, my Aunt’s father had just moved in with her family, needing more care than anticipated. Her husband was out of work which made it possible for him to be present, but the bills continued to come in. Her father lost his battle just a few months after moving in with her which added to her emotional turmoil. With 3 kids, 2 under the age of 13, all of whom still need their Mom, the fight is on.
She continues to work, as a Hospice nurse, because she HAS to, even on days following chemo when she feels like half herself. Her co-workers carried her through for a while by donating PTO, but once back to work, this was no longer an option. Now it’s days off for treatment, unpaid.
My Aunt Terry has helped me in more ways than one... Now it’s my turn to help pay it forward ~
Thank you ❤️
