Treatment and bucket list goals for Julie

Sadly, our friend and fellow Skate Buddie Julie Mitchell has been given some life changing news very recently.

Julie, despite skating every day for a month to raise a large some of money for a charity close to her heart had been feeling generally unwell for a short time and after a recent short stay in hospital and an emergency surgery, Julie, at the age of 43 and her family were given the devastating news that she has stage 4 cancer in her bowel and liver.

During surgery her ovaries had to be removed, along with a rugby ball sized tumour.

Despite this, Julie is remaining focused on making the most of prolonging what time she has to spend with her family and friends, especially her side kick, daughter Paige, who has just started college, daughter Chloe and son Graeme. Unbelievably, Julie even managed to put her skates back on for 90 minutes to skate with her Skate Buddies at the DISC last Tuesday.

Surgery is no longer an option for further treatment, so before starting chemo in a few weeks Julie has a bucket list of things she’d like to do until that point, including spending a day at knockhill race track driving a fast car being one of them.

Alternative treatments, which can be expensive are another avenue Julie and her family are currently exploring, however they are very aware that this will come at a financial cost they are unable to afford given her current circumstances.

Any money raised from this page will go towards any alternative treatments Julie decides to undertake or bucket list activities she can squeeze in along the way.
