Treatment for Freddy

Tax deductible
From Freddy's foster mom, Lisa-

Freddy came to live with me as a foster kitty in November 2022. He was full of energy, running, jumping, and wrestling with his roommate. One of his favorite games was seeing how many steps he could jump on the staircase.

Mid-December he started to get lethargic and lose his appetite. He started acting strange; sleeping in abnormal places, sleeping all day, not drinking water, and even got a runny nose and runny eyes. Since then, his health has been declining. After several trips to the vet and a handful of medication later, we've settled on a diagnosis of FIP. Feline Infectious Peritonitis is a mutated form of feline coronavirus. Lots of kitties catch the coronavirus, but the symptoms are usually minor and they recover after a few days. But, sometimes the strain mutates into this nasty virus that infects the white blood cells and spreads throughout the body. This is very, very bad. FIP is vicious and almost always fatal without intervention. Since Freddy is already FIV+, he has a compromised immune system and his body is taking this virus really hard.

FIP is under-researched and although there is treatment, it is very new, hard to get a hold of, and very expensive. The treatment involves daily injections that are quite painful. We're determined to do it though. We want to do our very best for Freddy, so we are doing everything we can to help him recover and get back to skipping steps.

On my end, I will be learning how to give injections, offering him food throughout the day, keeping him hydrated as best I can, keeping him comfortable, and taking him to and from doctor appointments. We could really use your help getting access to his treatment. It's only with this treatment that he has a chance to get through it. Rescue and Relax have had several kitties recently who have developed FIP and they have gone through this treatment as well. When caught early enough, it brought many of them into remission. Let's get Freddy there too!

Please donate what you can and share this fundraiser with your friends and family.
