Treatment for Tinkerbell

On Easter Sunday our gorgeous cat Tinkerbell was struck down by a speeding car through our village. The car did not stop but with the help of a passer by and our neighbour, we were able to bring her in and have since taken her to the emergency vet.

After a heartbreaking night we have been told that Tinkerbell’s pelvis has been smashed resulting in the narrowing of her pelvic canal and the potential need for amputation. She is currently hospitalised and has been sedated to manage the pain but requires considerable surgery to enable recovery.

Tinkerbell is one and a half years old, and is the most incredible cat I’ve ever known. She enriches the lives of not only my partner and I, but also our neighbours, family and visitors. She has provided us with endless joy, love and affection and the thought of not having her in our lives is not only devastating, but unimaginable.

We are now at the stage where we have to make a decision on what to do. The surgery, emergency care, scans and procedures as well as post-op medical management has been totalled at around £10,000. We have been told that if we go ahead, then Tinkerbell will likely make a full recovery after 8 weeks of confinement at home. She will need a plate and screws inserted into her pelvis, reconstruction of her femoral head and neck socket and ongoing pain relief.

We are therefore please asking for donations to enable us to fund this surgery to refrain from having to make the unthinkable decision of having to put her down. With her being so young and the likelihood of her making a strong recovery, we know that going ahead with the surgery is the right decision for Tinkerbell.
