Treatment of Guillain-Barré & hand Surgery

My name is Larry Sinclair, I am 62 years old. In 2001 after a work accident caused severe disc and nerve damage I was certified disabled by Social Security. I did not meet the minimum requirements for SDI and was placed on SSI. For the next 20 years I lived in constant pain, loss control of my right leg along with it always being numb and pain riddled. I had Carpal Tunnel Release surgery performed on each hand Three times because after each surgery I had more severe pain and restrictive use.
For almost 10 years I was taking 8 10/325 mg tablets of lortab on top of 3 30mg tablets of MS Contin a day and still functioning. But I refused to have anyone care for me and I refused to give in to the pain and limitations. I even refused to allow my pain to show in front of others. After the pill mill scandals in the 2007-2010 frame doctors stopped prescribing those meds and in reality, it wasn't really that much different as I had built such a high pain tolerance just to survive. Despite having severe ulnar nerve entrapment in my left arm, doctors left it untreated. The numbness and pain in my legs were excused off to disc compression on the nerves and I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes diabetic neuropathy & fibromyalgia. Every 2 or 3 years a new EMG-Nerve conduction study was done and every time the same conclusion, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, disc compressing nerves etc.
Until July 2021 I at least had Medicaid insurance even if they wouldn't authorize surgery repeatedly recommended. In 2015 I decided after moving to Cocoa Florida I was going to concentrate on turning my neighborhood around, and help as many in the process as I could. I am including videos of news reports on some of those efforts. In the process, being the direct blunt person I am I pissed off a lot of local officials when they decided to come after me and my neighbors because we had done something the city had not been able to do for years. While traveling back and forth to LA after my Mom had suffered kidney failure and developed Alzheimer's an official with the local Social Security office who was close friends with people I pissed off decided to send a letter claiming I was not entitled to SSI because she had taken money raised through a non-profit to restore the neighborhood and claimed it was considered income available to me. The letter was mailed after I was out of town with full knowledge I would not get it or be able to object to it before her decision was enacted so my SSI and Medicaid both were stopped and today I am still waiting for Social Security to schedule my appeal hearing.
Last October I was in bed unable to stand up, unable to walk for more than a month after falling right to the ground one night without any warning or cause. Since then I have continued to experience episodes where I have been unable to move my legs or walk for periods. In the early part of this year, I started experiencing severe pain and limited movement in both hands the right more than left. I couldn't raise my arms, straighten my hands or hold anything. It continued to worsen and after finding a Dr in Mexico willing to work with me on payment I was examined. Turns out that the radial nerves in both hands, ulnar nerves in both arms and the tendon in my right arm and wrist are completely shot and the tendon is separated. My legs became unusable as a result of CHRONIC INFLAMMATORY DEMYELINATING POLYNEUROPATHY (CIDP) aka a chronic form of Guillain-Barré syndrome.
I have to have surgery on both hands and arms to prevent complete loss of use of them on top of needing to be treated for Guillain-Barré as soon as possible. The recovery time for surgery is from 8 to 12 weeks and could be longer. But I will deal with that as long as I do not lose complete use of my hands. Guillain-Barré explains the episodes of me thinking I was having a heart attack when my chest was filled with pain and I couldn't breathe which has occurred more often over the past 3 months.
So I set up this Go Fund Me with the sincere hope that you will find it in your hearts to help me get surgery and treatment as soon as possible. Because I am being treated in Mexico it is cheaper but it also has to be paid before surgery and treatment in the hospital begins. I am not asking for anything other than funds to pay for medical treatment.
These links tell the story of my commitment and determination for the community and others. My only regret is that people who are supposed to serve the community went out of their way to find a way to stop the good being done out of spite.
