Treatments for Brixton Leukodystrophy
Donation protected
My name is Brixton and I was born prematurely at only 26 weeks and 1 day. I spent a total of 107 days in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). When I turned 3 years old, grey spots were detected on my brain, which raised concerns among my doctors. It was later discovered that I have a medical condition called Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD), which belongs to a group of neurological disorders known as the leukodystrophies. Leukodystrophies are characterized by abnormalities in myelin, the protective substance surrounding nerve fibers in the brain and spinal cord. This condition primarily affects children between the ages of 3 and 5. Unfortunately, there is currently no cure for Adrenoleukodystrophy. My mother is doing everything she can to slow down the progression of this disease, including seeking medical assistance outside of our hometown. Therefore, any small donation would greatly help in covering the additional medical expenses incurred.
