Tree Bench for the Triangle!
Donation protected
We are making a tree bench for the Palace Gates Triangle!
In 2020 some of us locals made a simple bench out of chairs for the tree, followed by a lovely concert of string music and socialising. It has worn out, as it was quite temporary, so we are going to replace it with a beautiful hexagonal tree bench, to last for many years to come.
Historically there was a long bench at the back of the Triangle, too, so we would like to come together to discuss ideas to make the area better for all to share (tidying, but also creating!).
The lovely design is as in the picture. Costs are approximately:
- Wood - £208
- Tools & screws etc - £50
- Refreshments for Party - £42
Bench-Making. Saturday 23rd Sept, 10am-1pm
I have done lots of woodworking for the Friends of Ally Pally Station, and will happily do preparatory work and lead the workshop on the Saturday, but will always welcome experienced woodwork help and guidance! With some preparatory sawing done, the work will be a combination of sawing, drilling screws, fixing and painting. All quite simple!
Party with live music!
On the Sunday we will have a celebration for the bench. A chance to meet neighbours, celebrate our work and perhaps plan more things! Some of our wonderful string players from the area will be playing beautiful string chamber music for the party.
Do let me know if you would like to offer anything else (refreshments, music, design ideas...?).
For people who would like to get involved in the area who haven't before, we are looking at options to revive some of the much-loved activities of the PGRA, link in with the Friends of AP Station, and various other things. It will be really nice to meet and share ideas. Thank you for donating, and hope to see/meet you at the Triangle!
Many thanks!
