Tree of Life Orphanage Needs Help

Donation protected
Roger Walker is the founder and managing director of the Tree of Life Orphanage in Buriram, Thailand(TOLO)  (http://www.tolo-thailand.com). Tree of Life endeavors to provide a loving home, spiritual encouragement, as well as education opportunities for all the children in residence. All residents have living relatives that are either unwilling or unable to provide care for them, which prevents them from being legally adopted. Therefore, most children who come to Tree of Life, regardless of age, will most likely continue in residence until they complete their University degrees. The orphanage thus becomes a permanent home for its residents. TOLO Buriram relies completely on the freewill offerings and the generosity of donors from around the world.

I’ve been friends with Roger since high school, and I greatly admire his and his wife's dedication to this important cause. Here is a quote from him that shares his initial inspiration that led to the founding of the orphanage: “The dream of the orphanage began in July 1989. While standing on a small rice field , I saw a vision of a building with lots of children running in and out. I was so overcome with feelings of warmth and love, unlike anything I had ever experienced before. I envisioned a home for our family and orphaned children in Buriram, Thailand. In August 1990, the construction of a new home began. Over the next seven years, while living in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, UAE, we continued construction as funds became available. On January 1, 1998, we arrived at last in Thailand and took up residence in our home. Less than one year later, on November 22, 1998, our home officially became a haven for orphans, abandoned ,and indigent children from throughout Thailand. Tree of Life Christian Children's Center and Orphanage (TOLO) had begun.”

Currently, TOLO helps over 200 children.

Recently, it was determined that Roger needs a liver transplant. As a result of this, he has traveled from Thailand to the veteran’s hospital in SanAntonio, Texas for treatment and to await a liver. The costs he is incurring for all this are huge. They include medical, housing, travel, communication, and a whole host of others, including all TOLO operating costs. If TOLO is to survive, they need this funding immediately. And,  sadly, they are running out of money. Through it all, Roger’s focus has been on the children and a way to keep the orphanage open for them. Quite simply, these funds will position Roger to take his best shot at healing while, at the same time, allow his beloved TOLO to keep taking care of the children.

I’d like to raise $75,000 for Roger and TOLO as quickly as possible, and I will appreciate any donation you can make. The need for immediate funds is urgent.

On Roger’s, TOLO's, and the children's behalf, I thank you.
