Trees Keep Falling On My House - Help Me Pay?
Donation protected
A few years ago, I moved to a little house surrounded by big, old-growth trees. It's great. It's peaceful. My child can grow up surrounded by nature.
This spring -- a few months after I was laid off from Medium, where I'd worked for about eight years -- no fewer than two trees unexpectedly fell down on our house, and a third tree is about to fall down on our neighbors' house unless we pay someone to cut it down.
Trees are super expensive to cut down -- about $1,800 apiece, it turns out -- and though I have some savings, a lot of it is already going to childcare, and medical bills, and the savings weren't meant to withstand about $6,000 of unexpected repair emergencies. However, being sued by our neighbors after a tree falls on them would be even more expensive. Also, someone could get seriously hurt.
This final tree needs to get cut down. I can cover about half the cost, but I could use help getting the rest of the way there. This is embarrassing, and normally, I could cover the emergency, but I just wasn't prepared for three emergencies in a row. Anything you can pitch in will be deeply appreciated.
For the record, here is what it looks like when a big tree falls on your house:
Here is what I look like, responding to a big dead tree:
Help me deal with the last Big Dead Tree, and nature, my neighbors, and I will all be eternally grateful.
