Adam Craddock (Crad) was a dear friend, one of a kind, with an infectious personality. On 10th May 2024, we lost our best mate, Crad sadly and unexpectedly took his own life leaving his family and friends utterly heartbroken.
There is often a stigma attached to men’s mental health and never, as a group of friends, did we think it would have such a profound impact on us. We were lucky enough to have shared a great friendship and memories over many years and this came as a complete surprise. Losing Crad really brought into sharp focus the importance of staying connected and the realisation that it’s ok to talk especially amongst your closest friends.
On Saturday 10th May 2025, we will be challenging ourselves and raising awareness of suicide prevention and sponsorship for both charity (ANDYSMANCLUB - It's Okay To Talk) and India (Crad’s 3 year old daughter). The photo of Crad and India is the last that Heather, Crad’s amazingly strong and inspiring partner, took of him.
Crad had relentless drive and determination beyond belief, a challenge was never too far away. His strength and talent led him, in 2023, to become a 2x Ironman Triathlon champion #1692 (Wales) and #1750 (Germany)! He was someone who showed no fear and was a must have on any team sheet. Whilst our challenge won’t quite be of “ironman status”, we will mark a year of his passing by taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks. This is a 24-mile round trip including the 5,200ft ascent over hills of the Pennine range which we are aiming to complete within 12-hours.
Our chosen charity, ANDYSMANCLUB, is a suicide prevention charity that helped support Crad’s place of work. Their aim, to break down the stigma of men’s mental health and offer free support groups nationwide.
Any donations to this cause would be greatly appreciated.
With heartfelt thanks,
James, Mike, Will, Tom
