Hello there! I decided to set up this fundraiser to help my inlaws and hopefully any costs that come along the way. I live in PEI with my husband (their son, Allan Parrish) while they live in NS, (their Daughter Robyn and her family live in NS also). Right now the overall goal that were setting might change if costs get harder but even receiving any help is welcomed and we're grateful for those who help in time of need.
Dave isn't originally from Canada, but his wife Darlene is. They moved to Canada, NS so they could see their grand babies grow and be around them as the years carried on. They lived in Malta for 5 years before that. Dave may be married to Darlene but he still is having to deal with the paper work and issues that moving to a new country provides. Along with the costs that come with it. This is just a quick insight so the rest will make sense.
Dave's health seemed to become worse over the last few years, but he is very stubborn and always pushed through. He got the news after going to the doctor, that he would lose his leg (above the knee and down) this happened quite quickly, he was admitted July 26, 2022 and had his operation July 31, 2022. If you are wondering why he did lose his leg, it's a reason we hear about often, not being able to afford the medication. He couldn't afford his diabetic medication for quite some time, years to be exact, so he was unable to take it. Which he had to pay the price for at the cost of losing a limb. After his surgery he also caught covid. So his hospital stay became longer then desired, then to top it off he got news he needs an residency card issued by MSI, and it can be set up into a partial payment plan*. He has been in the hospital 5 weeks and that will make the MSI card very useful to Dave also. Darlene and Dave do not drive nor have a vehicle, so she's been taking the bus daily to visit Dave. The bus fair is only 8 dollars but times that by 5 weeks it can tally up quickly, when money is tight.
After Dave leaves the care of the hospital there will be other things he will need, help will be one of those things. His wife and him are limited to what help they can and can't get to help themselves but "hope" always keeps their spirits up. They can't get assistance either since she is not alloqed to use government money to support him. There's only so much my husband and I can do from PEI but were hoping donations would be a good start to help any expenses they can't cover. There is things Darlene will need to help Dave but they also would be looking for a Mobility scooter. Which is something they can't afford but it would benefit Dave majorly. They have a wheelchair, but the scooter would provide much more help and easier movement. There will be things over the coming year they will need, right now though it would be easier to get Dave home first.
That's their first goal, after that and seeing how he does is the second goal. Darlene will be his main provider but she needs help and anything is welcomed. Even a dollar as at the end of the day, it adds up and can help!
This will be updated so those that would like to see how he gets along can come and check here.
Goal List(To be updated) ;
The first goal is ; $1080.00. This will pay for Dave's residency card so he may have it taken care of to focus more consideratably on his health (MSI Card needed.)
Mobility Scooter; although I'm not sure on the costs of these, I will find a reasonable, affordable one to put a price on it at least. Another option is if someone in NS has one to donate that may be a seperate option that would be welcomed too!
