Trev's Trek - 350 miles of Survival in Solitude

Trev’s Trek is a 350 mile Trek of Survival in Solitude. Starting in Milngavie, North of Glasgow and ending in the northwestern-most point of mainland Scotland. It will conquer Scotland’s first long distance route stretching for 96 miles known as ‘The West Highland Way’, as well Britain’s most challenging long distance trail, a 230-mile epic from Fort William named ‘Cape Wrath Trail’. The ambitious backpacking Trevor will face challenges combining a complete lack of waymarking and remote landscapes, whilst walking alone and fully self-supported. Not only pushing his limits on trails, Trevor will also climb 15 miles from the foot of ‘Ben Nevis’ to the summit and down again, UK's Highest Mountain.

Passing through majestic, wild and magnificent landscapes of the western highlands. Parts of the trail use ancient drover paths, follow forested glens, cross bogs, high moorlands and mountain passes. Navigating pastoral landscapes beneath the Campsies, pass Loch Lomond, into increasingly rugged highlands, crossing the vast expanse of Rannoch Moor, glimpsing down Glencoe to the hills of Loch Leven, via Glen Nevis.

This walk will be completed alone, fully self supported, carrying a tent, cooking equipment, a water filter and food supplies to last 9 days at a time. Along the journey Trevor will be stopping for re-supplies by sending himself parcels to local post offices enroute, adding in those extra miles on foot.

Trevor aims to experience an unparalleled level of freedom and adventure, while testing his endurance and commitment to overcome fear and solitude.

UPDATE: Trev’s Trek has now begun! on 24th August 2023 and aim’s to be completed in 3-4 weeks.

About Trevor

“Fear is a part of it. Getting Lost and Learning to follow a map and your survival intuition.” says Trevor.

The inspiration to take on this quest was the opening of space in his current lifestyle and a deeper longing to voyage on one of self discovery. To challenge the mind and the body in a rich time of solitude, whilst taking the self out of its comfort zone and familiar landscape.

“If you are scared of something, just do it. No point in existing in only comfort, you don’t grow.” continues Trevor.

He relates this to his practice of Buddhism. The Dharma that he moves away from is often the bits that are the most challenging and necessary to walk towards for a richer practice in life. Trevor is a Mitra and is Training for Ordination. He has worked for Buddhafield Organisation for over 20 years managing their kit, structures and cafe.

The idea of the walk came first and then to combine it with a Sponsored Pledge to raise funds for Buddhafield Base Project. The base projects commitment to 4 values are ones that he shares in Care for Land and Ecology, Authentic Community, Meaningful Work & Celebration of Creativity.

All Sponsorship Funds will be donated to Buddhafield Base Project https://base.buddhafield.org.uk/
