Bring Olympic Trials Pool to MN

Donation protected

Hello Minnesota Swimming Fans,

With the 2016 Summer Olympic games right around the corner, thousands of young Minnesotan swimmers are inspired to train even harder and realize their dream of one day reaching the pinnacle of their sport and proudly representing Minnesota, and the United States of America.

The Minnesota Swim Center would like to help make those dreams a reality. We are in the final stages of an exciting 3 year fund raising effort to build a world-class, three pool, aquatic center right here in Minnesota.
The main pool will feature a state-of-the-art 50 meter Olympic sized pool, designed specifically for training and the hosting of local and regional age-group swimming competitions. This pool will be the same pool built in Omaha Nebraska for the 2016 USA Olympic Swimming Trials. The Minnesota Swim Center plans to purchase that pool after the Trials next July and bring it to Coon Rapids.
Our second pool will be a 25 yard, warm water, learn-to-swim pool. This shallow depth pool is especially designed to teach young and old alike, the basic skills of swimming and water safety.
The swim center will also feature a Hydroworx Therapy pool. Stroke victims, injured athletes, seniors and many others can use this facility to aid in their physical therapy and recovery.
The Minnesota Swim Center will be designed to serve the entire Minneapolis community.  MSC is supported by a small group of private investors and swimming fans dedicated to the promotion of competitive swimming and public water safety.
It's been a long journey and 80% of the resources are in place to start construction. We now need the entire community's support to help complete the funding. Any contribution, big or small will be appreciated.
In addition to having a world class facility to train and compete in The Minnesota Swim Center will be a living tribute to the work and dedication of the countless volunteers, officials, swimmers and coaches that make our sport possible. To raise the needed funds for the pool and to honor those individuals who have given back to the swimming community by giving of themselves we are selling dedication tiles. Swimmers, Coaches, Officials or Volunteers who have at least 40 dedication tiles in their honor will have a free large 12” X 12” picture tile of them surrounded by their tiles.

Swimmers:
Without the dedication of each individual swimmer our sport would not be possible. It is because of what you do in the water and the perseverance you show every day at practice that makes this facility possible. Dedicate a tile to the swimmer in your life!!

Coaches:
When I was young I thought I was learning to have better stroke mechanics and faster flip turns. Now that I am grown I realize what I was really being taught was how to persevere when things didn’t go my way, how to succeed and remain humble, how to push myself to new levels and ultimately how to be successful in life. I owe all these lessons to caring individuals, who gave of themselves so that my life would be enriched, I simply called “Coach”.
Is there a coach that impacted your life that you would like to acknowledge? Now is the time and place!

Officials:
How often do we take the time to thank the people who make our competitions possible by standing all day, getting their feet splashed and their rulings questioned. Who remembers the likes of: Jim Sherman, DeanKaump,  Michael Bougie, Mike Cagley, Bob Granovsky, Tony Ditty, Rick Biggs, David Shapley, Jack Campbell, Gary Albrecht, Art Nelson, Dave Sweeny, Jim Hanton and countless others. Send me names and I will add them to this list.

Volunteers:
We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude. Thank you to all the countless volunteers that have made swimming possible through their hard work and dedication.
If you want to touch the past, touch a rock. If you want to touch the present, touch a flower. If you want to touch the future, touch a life. ~Author Unknown
