Hi! My name is Triana, and after years of working towards this, I have gender affirmation surgery coming up.

Yes, the surgery.

There's even a date scheduled: it's happening in mid October.

If anything I've done in the public eye has connected with you, from being on air championing new Australian music and out-and-proud artists on community radio every single week, to creating content in the gaming and esports space, or hosting podcasts exploring queer health, I'd love your support. Maybe you've even heard me on a secret podcast or two, or perhaps you know me from some other Melbourne communities? In all I've done, I've tried my best to amplify the voices of marginalised voices and support the community as much as possible, and now I'm leaning back on that community for support.

Since being made redundant in July last year, I've been desperately underemployed, picking up freelance work here and there.

With a date now set, I now need to start scraping together this money, and need your help.

$20,000 should cover the surgery in its entirety including the anaesthetist, though there are additional costs I need to take care of.

The surgery is happening in Canberra. Immediately following the surgery is a stay in hospital for a few days, followed by a further week or so in a motel nearby just in case anything goes wrong. Then, as I won't be able to fly immediately following the surgery (because it's major surgery), I'll need someone to drive me back to Melbourne from Canberra, so I'd like to be able to cover the fuel for the trip and pay them for their time. I'll also need time to recover, so any money that goes beyond the stated goal will go towards that recovery.

In the interim, I'm continuing to do freelance work to scrape together as much as I can to contribute myself, while also continuing to seek salaried employment.
